Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch

There are a lot of pumpkin patches in the Kansas City area.  It wasn't an easy decision to pick one to visit, but we ultimately decided to visit the Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch in Bonner Springs, KS and I am so glad we did!  It was perfect and had so many activities for the kids.

Gwyneth was immediately drawn to the sandbox full of tractors and trucks.

They had a train ride similar to the one she rode in Kansas City last month.  She was more than happy to take a ride...or two in it.

There was a large plastic pipe slide that turned out to be SUPER fast!  Gwyneth loved it, although she learned how to spread out her arms and legs to slow herself down the second time around.

They even had a small barnyard area with farm animals.  Gwyneth really liked the turkeys and my favorite was the adorable pony.

I thought it was really cute that they had a straw maze set up for the little kids to run around in.  Gwyneth managed to make it through with only a few dead ends.

After the straw maze we headed into the real deal...the corn maze.

Gwyneth absolutely loved the painted cut-outs.  I think she makes an adorable Dracula and scarecrow. :)

There was a small schoolhouse set up with an old school desk and chalkboard.  I think Gwyneth would have stayed there playing with the chalk for hours if we would have let her.  Luckily, we were able to coax her out with pumpkin picking.

Gwynnie found herself an "itty bitty" pumpkin like she wanted...

and paid for it herself.

We loved the Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch!

My New Toy

Having photography as a hobby is so much fun, but I've quickly learned it can be an expensive one.  There are countless numbers of lens and gadgets that I'd love to have.  Unfortunately, they don't come cheap!  A fellow photographer recently posted on her blog about macro filters.  This is an inexpensive way to do macro style photography without purchasing an expensive macro lens.  Macro photography is extreme close up photography and it can't be achieved without special equipment.  I immediately purchased filters for my lens after reading the blog and I am so glad I did.  They are perfect for the amateur photographer.  I had fun playing around with the filters the other day and I can't wait to experiment more!

Sweet baby toes....

The flowers Brandon got me for Bubby's first day of school lasted nearly 4 weeks.  I couldn't believe it!

A Visit With Yaney and Big Daddy

Brandon's parents, Yaney and Big Daddy, came for a visit this past weekend.  To say the kids had fun would be an understatement.  It's always great to have family visit us, especially since we live so far away.  We wish them safe travels today as they head back to Alabama and look forward to seeing them again soon over the Christmas holidays.

The rain put a little bit of a damper on our outdoor time yesterday afternoon.  Gwynnie kept an eye on it for us and waited patiently for a break in the rain so we could pop outside for some family pictures.

I Want to Ride My Tricycle...

Gwyneth has had this tricycle for a long time.  It used to belong to Gwyneth's cousin, Chase, and my parents brought it out to us when Gwyneth was just a year old.  For the longest time we have been pushing Gwyneth around the house on it.  I can't tell you how many back aches this thing has caused Brandon and I. :)  This week Gwyneth finally learned how to ride the tricycle on her own.  We are so proud of her accomplishment and even happier that our backs are now spared the pain.

There was quite a bit of instruction that had to be given....over and over.  Even with all of the coaching from daddy she managed to run into a few things.  The tricycle seemed to drift to the left; steering is not her greatest skill.

Weston, MO Applefest

We went to the Applefest this weekend with the Henrichs and as always we had a blast.  It was a bit cool and windy, definitely Fall around here!

Jemma was anxiously waiting her turn to ride a pony.

Gwynnie loves riding ponies.  Her pony's name was "Spanish" and I think she would have ridden him all day if we would have let her.

Jemma had a blast and was giving some good "yee-haws!"

One of the highlights of the day for Gwynnie was being able to ride a school bus to and from our car.

I just love, love, love this sweet picture of Maegan and her son Finn.  Such a precious mommy and son moment!  Isn't he adorable?!

Overall, the Applefest was a success!  The only thing missing was the apples.  I don't think we saw a single one while we were there.  A bit odd considering the name of the festival, but a great time was still had by all.

Kansas City River Market

This past weekend we went to the River Market in Kansas City with our friends the Henrichs.  We had never been so the Henrichs showed us around and introduced us to a cute little place called Beignet.  Their specialty is beignets...go figure. :)  I shared a three pack of the traditional beignets with Gwyneth.  She didn't take a single bite of the beignet itself, but thoroughly enjoyed eating fistfuls of the powdered sugar.

After our breakfast we walked around the market and came across a cute "train" ride for the kids.  The train was made of plastic water barrels and it was pulled by a lawnmower.  The kids loved it!

I don't think Gwynnie took her hands off the side of her train car once.  She was holding on for dear life!

After the train ride Gwynnie had fun walking around an old fountain practicing her balance and her jumps.

We always have a blast with the Henrichs and look forward to more adventures with them in the city.
