A Bit Under the Weather

The Stepp kids have been a little under the weather this weekend.  Poor Fletch has been battling a slight fever with some serious drool...teething!  I swear this kid is never going to get teeth!

Gwyneth has some sort of mystery illness where the only symptoms are a high fever paired with lots of whining.  It hit her Friday night and has come and gone all weekend.  Not only was she feeling bad, she had to endure the cancellation of our weekend plans of early trick or treating downtown and a pumpkin carving party.  We thought she was back to her normal self only to find the fever returned tonight.  Looks like we will be laying low around here for a few more days.  I hope my babies feel better soon!

Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch

There are a lot of pumpkin patches in the Kansas City area.  It wasn't an easy decision to pick one to visit, but we ultimately decided to visit the Kerby Farm Pumpkin Patch in Bonner Springs, KS and I am so glad we did!  It was perfect and had so many activities for the kids.

Gwyneth was immediately drawn to the sandbox full of tractors and trucks.

They had a train ride similar to the one she rode in Kansas City last month.  She was more than happy to take a ride...or two in it.

There was a large plastic pipe slide that turned out to be SUPER fast!  Gwyneth loved it, although she learned how to spread out her arms and legs to slow herself down the second time around.

They even had a small barnyard area with farm animals.  Gwyneth really liked the turkeys and my favorite was the adorable pony.

I thought it was really cute that they had a straw maze set up for the little kids to run around in.  Gwyneth managed to make it through with only a few dead ends.

After the straw maze we headed into the real deal...the corn maze.

Gwyneth absolutely loved the painted cut-outs.  I think she makes an adorable Dracula and scarecrow. :)

There was a small schoolhouse set up with an old school desk and chalkboard.  I think Gwyneth would have stayed there playing with the chalk for hours if we would have let her.  Luckily, we were able to coax her out with pumpkin picking.

Gwynnie found herself an "itty bitty" pumpkin like she wanted...

and paid for it herself.

My New Toy

Having photography as a hobby is so much fun, but I've quickly learned it can be an expensive one.  There are countless numbers of lens and gadgets that I'd love to have.  Unfortunately, they don't come cheap!  A fellow photographer recently posted on her blog about macro filters.  This is an inexpensive way to do macro style photography without purchasing an expensive macro lens.  Macro photography is extreme close up photography and it can't be achieved without special equipment.  I immediately purchased filters for my lens after reading the blog and I am so glad I did.  They are perfect for the amateur photographer.  I had fun playing around with the filters the other day and I can't wait to experiment more!

The flowers Brandon got me for Bubby's first day of school lasted nearly 4 weeks.  I couldn't believe it!

A Visit With Yaney and Big Daddy

Brandon's parents, Yaney and Big Daddy, came for a visit this past weekend.  To say the kids had fun would be an understatement.  It's always great to have family visit us, especially since we live so far away.  We wish them safe travels today as they head back to Alabama and look forward to seeing them again soon over the Christmas holidays.

The rain put a little bit of a damper on our outdoor time yesterday afternoon.  Gwynnie kept an eye on it for us and waited patiently for a break in the rain so we could pop outside for some family pictures.
